Immutable

Standard

A single phone call seals your fate
Double checking will do no good
The time has come to turn your back
To the sweet solace of denial

Drown yourself willingly
Let the tide overwhelm you
Let it soak every last molecule of your being

Just as your lungs are about give way
Thrash about and come up for air
Repeat this like your most sacred ritual
Make it the focal point of your existence

Scour the deepest depths
And shed this empty shell
Upon the jagged sea bed

Then swim ashore once again
Never to return
To what you’ve left behind
