Which way’s the exit?

Standard

Down on the floor i lie,
Life upon life upon life beneath me,
Trapped in the cage
That we built.

Somewhere far away
In a cage much like mine
Are you
Perhaps seated on a bed
Twirling a hair,
Biting a pencil,
Tapping at a key
Someone stole the exit sign
And now we can’t get away
Shut up for once,
and throw your devices away.

i see you
but can’t reach out
and touch you
Your words float before me
They are hollow
i imagine you saying them
But its just not the same
You are the way you are
because i see you so…

Sometimes we talk,
Or so we think we do,
But who are we fooling after all?
i have no idea who you are,
You have no idea who i am
And yet, here we are
Thinking we’ve got each other
All figured out.
Shut up for once
and throw your devices away

End the phoney conversations
Walk out the cage that you’ve designed
And i will do the same
No more do i want to live
with the idea of who i think you are
i want to see you
Shut up for once
and throw your devices away

Time runs slow,
All that’s gone is forgotten,
All that’s ahead is invisible,
The present loops infinitely
Wake up, and escape the trap
You’ve willingly submitted to,
The door is right before you,
So what if the exit sign is gone,
Did you need it to get out anyway?

Shut up for once
and throw your devices away.
